Embracing AI in Business: Beyond the Tech

Kellie Bradley - byteKraft workshops

Today is AI Appreciation Day and a perfect time to demystify the role of artificial intelligence in the modern business landscape. My name is Kellie, and with over 40 years of experience in marketing and business development I adopted AI as a tool to increase efficiencies and to build better marketing campaigns for clients needing branding and digital marketing campaigns. I am now focused on helping people understand how to use AI because it has transformed the way I work and I’ve seen firsthand how AI can revolutionize the way people do business. Success with AI is grounded in using it wisely and with a degree of learned skill.

First, I want to acknowledge the purpose of AI Appreciation Day:

  • Raising Awareness: The day aims to increase public awareness about the capabilities and benefits of AI technologies. It highlights how AI is being used in diverse sectors such as healthcare, finance, education, transportation, and entertainment.
  • Educational Opportunities: AI Appreciation Day serves as a platform for educational events, workshops, and seminars that explain the basics of AI, its applications, and its potential impact on society. These events can help demystify AI for those who may be unfamiliar with the technology.
  • Highlighting Innovations: The day showcases innovative AI applications and projects that are making a difference. This could include breakthroughs in medical diagnostics, advancements in autonomous vehicles, or novel uses of AI in creative arts.
  • Encouraging Responsible AI: AI Appreciation Day emphasizes the importance of developing and using AI responsibly. It promotes discussions on ethical considerations, data privacy, and the need for transparent and fair AI systems.
  • Celebrating Achievements: The day celebrates the achievements of AI researchers, developers, trainers and organizations that are pushing the boundaries of what AI can do. It recognizes their contributions to advancing technology and improving various aspects of life.

I encourage everyone to seek out resources and learn more about AI in all of the categories listed above not only today but as we move forward and AI evolves and transforms how we work, collaborate, communicate and analyze.

AI isn’t just about algorithms and data; it’s about the stories of transformation and sometimes, comical missteps along the way.

For example:  An AI model suggested adding glue to pizza to prevent the cheese from sliding off.

While we chuckle things like this, they underscore a vital point:

AI is a powerful tool, but it needs to be used correctly.

In this blog, we’ll explore how AI is reshaping industries from a non-technical viewpoint and discuss why securing your AI applications and training your team properly are critical steps toward innovation.

The Power of AI in Business

In today’s digital age, Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands out not just as a technological advancement but as a transformative force across various industries.

  • In retail, AI technologies are revolutionizing how businesses drive and predict consumer behavior and manage inventory, turning vast amounts of data into actionable insights that drive sales and improve customer satisfaction.
  • AI in healthcare is enabling faster, more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans, significantly improving patient outcomes.
  • Meanwhile, the finance sector benefits from AI through enhanced fraud detection systems and automated risk assessment, making operations safer and more efficient.
  • In marketing, creatives can produce complicated, integrated campaigns with a multitude of moving parts in a third of the time it would take without AI’s assistance, and on the back end analyze the results of marketing campaigns in real time.
  • Companies and non-profits that have to apply to RFP/RFI/RFQ’s or grants are using AI to streamline this process and make it easier and less time consuming as well.

The true beauty of AI in business lies in its ability to automate complex processes and analyze large datasets with precision, freeing up human workers to focus on creative and strategic tasks. This shift not only boosts productivity but also fosters innovation, allowing companies to explore new opportunities without the traditional constraints of time and resources.

When AI Goes Hilariously Wrong

Despite its vast potential, AI can sometimes miss the mark in the most unexpected and humorous ways. Imagine a smart email filter designed to streamline your inbox, but instead, it consistently flags important emails as spam while letting through every single promotional mail. Now, picture a chatbot that misunderstands user queries so profoundly that it becomes famous for its nonsensical yet amusing responses. Personally, I LOVE how Dall-E has issues spelling the simplest of words even when given specific instructions on how to spell.  Ask me sometime about the 15 iterations of “Go forth and be funny” graphic I generated, not one of them spelled correctly, before I finally gave up and just created the graphic without words and added them later in a graphics editing program.

These instances, while funny, serve as crucial reminders of the importance of thorough testing and continuous refinement of AI systems. They also illustrate why businesses must invest in robust oversight and quality control mechanisms to ensure that their AI implementations do not backfire. Learning from these blunders can help prevent future mishaps and enhance user trust in AI technologies.

Securing AI in Your Business

As businesses integrate AI deeper into their core operations, the importance of robust cybersecurity measures escalates. AI systems, with their complex data flows and predictive capabilities, can be prime targets for cyber-attacks. 2 Dog Digital provides top-tier security solutions that protect sensitive AI data and infrastructures from malicious threats. Their services ensure that your AI implementations are not only effective but also secure, guarding against data breaches that could jeopardize both your operations and your reputation.  However, it is imperative that you discuss these issues BEFORE allowing wholesale access and or integration of AI programs into your digital business environment.

Moreover, as regulations around data privacy grow stricter, ensuring compliance becomes a crucial concern. 2 Dog Digital helps businesses navigate these complexities, ensuring that their AI systems adhere to current laws and ethical standards, thereby protecting them from legal repercussions and building trust with their clientele.
